The Plassy was a cargo ship that went aground onto Finnis Rock, Inisheer, Aran Islands in 1960. All eleven crew were rescued by locals, but the Plassey would never sail again after being washed ashore after a second storm hit the island several weeks later. Today the wreck has become a tourist attraction. It is also visible in the opening credits of 'Father Ted'.
