One-to-One Landscape Photography Workshop
This one-to-one landscape photography course is designed for owners of a digital SLR who would like to develop their skill's to reach the next level.
The location for the course will be the Dingle Peninsula, specifically around Dunmore Head and its surroundings. The locations I have selected around the peninsula are particular favourites of mine, and one's I have photographed regularly over the years. They offer a rugged beauty second to none, and inspire me every time I visit the area.

The goal of this workshop, is for you to come away with a greater knowledge of subject and having learned how to create great images.
What we will Cover
In the Field
- Using manual modes and Auto modes on your camera - when and why
- How to make good exposures - understanding aperture, shutter speeds and ISO
- Learn about metering modes and the histogram
- Using about depth of field creatively
- Hone focusing skills
- The fundamentals of good composition
- Understanding light and it's effect on your photography
- Using filters - Polarizer & Neutral Density filters
- Taking panoramas with a view to digital stitching
Indoors
- Understanding RAW and how to convert your images
- Uploading, storing and cataloguing your images in Adobe Lightroom
- Optimizing your images in Lightroom and Photoshop - colour correction, local contrast enhancement, sharpening, levels, curves, masks, layers
- Understanding colour space and bit depth
Itinerary
9am - Meet at the car-park on Dunmore Head
Morning Session
In the morning session we will take advantage of the morning light and photograph around Dunmore Head, Clogher Head and the Dun Chaoin area. During the session we will focus on taking sharp, well exposed imagery for development later in post-production. I will pass on my knowledge to you regarding: light, composition, pre-visualizing techniques, how to take well exposed images, using aperture & shutter speeds creatively, focusing, and the use of other photographic equipment to enhance your photography, and much more!
Afternoon Session
Following some lunch at the fabulous Blasket Centre, I will demonstrate in a private area at the centre, all you need to know about post-processing your images using Lightroom and Photoshop. This will include:
- Organizing files & Metadata
- RAW conversion
- Colour adjustments
- Contrast adjustments
- Sharpening
- Lens correction
- Levels +Curves
- Masks
- Dodge & Burn techniques
- Cropping and crop ratios
During this session I will also discuss more on the topic of composition, and how you might approach your photography in a more controlled, concept based way.
Following this in-depth session on post-production, we can continue on with an evening shoot, or call it a day, the decision is up to you.
Rates
Rates are €250 for a one-day workshop, or €500 for a two day's.
Cancelations
Cancelations will be accepted and your workshop re-scheduled provided the request is received two weeks or more before the start date. Cancelations after this date will incur a charge of €100.
